Project Overview
Sustainability doesn’t just mean protecting the planet—it also means uplifting people. At LMS, we see firsthand how financial literacy can transform communities, especially in under-resourced areas. That’s why we launched a Financial Literacy Drive to support rural entrepreneurs in Oman, focusing on women-owned SMEs and youth-led start-ups.
What We Did
Community Workshops: We traveled to different regions to host interactive sessions on budgeting, saving, and lending. We wanted these sessions to be practical—so participants could apply the lessons to their daily lives and small businesses right away.
One-on-One Coaching: Beyond the group workshops, our advisors provided personalized guidance, helping local entrepreneurs develop clear business plans and prep their financial documents for micro-loan applications.
Peer Support Networks: We worked with local community leaders to set up committees where entrepreneurs could share experiences, learn from each other, and keep one another accountable.
Why It Matters
For many in rural areas, financial jargon and formal banking can be intimidating. By demystifying these concepts and offering tangible tools, we help them gain confidence and tap into financial opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
Impact & Observations
Stronger Local Economies: Over 300 entrepreneurs gained essential financial skills, and 45 of them secured micro-loans, leading to a 20% increase in local household incomes.
Inclusivity & Empowerment: Women-led ventures have gained momentum, with many creating jobs for their neighbors and reinvesting profits into the community.
Increased Financial Access: Several participants are now exploring larger funding options through LMS, bridging the gap between informal businesses and mainstream financial institutions.
